LIFE & STYLE

So Long Summer!

Happy Tuesday everyone! Here’s where I’m supposed to say that I suck, and that I’m sorry for not posting for awhile. And, I’m not not saying that, but I’m starting to sound like a broken record, so I’m going to really try to start avoiding that and post at least once a week. The main problem is that I don’t have a photographer to help me out. This is a serious hinderance. As a matter of fact, if any of you fine fashionista supporting readers have any friends in the New York City area that love taking pictures (either for free, or a small sum of mullah), pleaseeee hook ya girl up! It would be much appreciated.

On a less serious note...I only have two Summer Fridays at work left, and while I’m starting to dread the idea of having to stay in the office until 6 p.m. on Friday nights, I am also realizing that that means summer is almost over. Where the hell did the time go? It feels like just yesterday I was walking across the stage in the Dome, and moving my tassel to the other side of my cap. A LOT has happened in the past three months, and while I’ve kept you pretty up-to-date, I would like to take a moment to reflect on my summer and share a totally lame photo timeline of what I’ve been up to. Chances are, you’ve probably already seen most of these pics, but who cares? I don’t! So, I’m making you look at them again.

It's hard to believe that only 3 short months ago, I graduated from Cuse and moved into my very first Manhattan apartment. Here's a ridiculous "graduation" pic of me and two of my besties, Jess and Anabell, in our caps and gowns. We totally rocked those navy cloaks. Next to it, is a pic of my living room! It was super clean then... Now it's accessorized by a few pairs of shoes and unopened mail.

Hey! This is my super rad friend Rafy. Any time you need book recommendations, wanna build a team that would dominate in Harry Styles trivia, or just want a chill hang sesh, she's your go to gal. She was also my photographer for the summer! Oh, and she lived on my couch, which she is actually titling her memoir after. Yep, I'm requesting 3 signed hard copies, a pic with the author, and a spot in the national book tour please.

Rafy and I found ourselves at the Met for the photo shoot that ended up spearheading the relaunch of my website. Here, I'm pretending to rest on the blocked off stairs leading down to a closed exhibit. I did, in fact, get yelled at by a museum director who proceeded to follow me to make sure I didn't break any other rules. Oops. At least it made for a cool picture!

Early in the summer, I went to Milan, Italy for two weeks. While I was traveling for work, and didn't get much time out of the showroom, I did get this cool pic! Fun fact, on the day that I took this picture, I toured the Duomo and then sat at a teeny tiny cocktail table and got drunk by myself. The ham sandwich was delish, and the bloody marys made me forget how hot it was!

Some amazing friends came to visit me! Anabell, Nidhi, and Critta (who I somehow NEVER get pics with) all came and spent some time with me in the Big 'ol Apple. We danced until our feet hurt, ate more food than any human should be allowed, and sipped on fruity margs until the sun came up.

This summer I hung out with celebrity tattoo artist Jon Boy! Not only did he give me some awesome new ink, but he also managed to get me in to the Revolve Hamptons party. He's the real MVP of summer '17.

vogue.jpg

Marni helped Vogue celebrate their 125th anniversary by throwing an exclusive, invite only, fundraising event. And guess who got to go?! MEEEE. It's pretty cool being able to say that I not only went to a Vogue event, but was invited.

Things I learned this summer...

...to love pink! Thanks to this beautiful human for sharing an experience in the pink paradise that is Pietro Nolita with me. It really inspired me to add a bit more pink into my life! Also, pro tip: Kat loves Subway and caesar salads, so if you're ever in the mood, you know who to contact!

pizza.jpg

...that when every other girl is trying to look cute for the pic, I'm the one shoving pizza in my face. Though, any food would suffice. This isn't a totally new concept. I've always loved food.

fooood.jpg

...speaking of food. I learned that food prepping is definitely the way to go. There's nothing worse than getting home late from work and then having to take the time to make dinner. And if you're anything like me, you're probably too hungry to wait, so you end up snacking the whole time you're cooking. By the time your dinner is ready, you're already full. I know this story all too well. But, now that I food prep, I don't have to worry about that! Ugh, my mouth is watering just thinking about food. Is it lunch time yet?

frizz.jpg

...that my hair stands no chance against this humidity. Most days, I end up with my hair in a pony tail, or frizz that can't be tamed. If you can't tell, it doesn't exactly amuse me.

...to flat lay! I've always been so mesmerized by flat lay images online, but I've never been able to perfect them myself. Well, this summer, I figured it out and started flat laying some of my stuff. Trust me, I know I'm no expert, but at least I'm learning!

makeup.jpg

...that I am NOT going to be the next big beauty YouTuber! I almost poked my damn eyeball out trying to fill in my eyebrows. Yes, you read that right. Filming while doing makeup is super hard! Props to those gorgeous gals that make it look easy.

...that sometimes, those outrageously priced, cool, flowy pants are absolutely worth their hefty price tag. I mean, come on! Look at them! I can do so many activities in them!

And lastly, I learned that booze at brunch are always the move. I tend to stay away from the mimosas and go straight for the good stuff, the bloody marys. Look at this one! It was topped with tomatoes, olives, celery, a mini onion, and even SHRIMP! Gah, it was delishhh. Also, this was my last brunch with Rafy before she moved out. *sigh* I miss her already. Can this summer just restart?

Even though, I clearly, did A LOT this summer, I would have to say that the Revolve party in the Hamptons was probably my favorite. I got to spend the whole day with one of my best friends, sipping on (free) drinks, and jamming out to Travis Scott (who was literally 2 feet away from me). I met some great people, and made some unforgettable memories. Leave a comment below, and let me know what your favorite thing you did this summer was! Or, let me know what you would like to see me post about! The options are endless.

Until next time.

xoxo,
