I Passed Over to Easter

Obvi, I’m super late on this, but Happy Easter/Passover (I celebrate both)!!! In case you’re confused, my mom is Catholic and my dad is (was) Jewish. I grew up Jewish, but participated in several Catholic holidays as my mom is practicing. But wait, I’m sure you’re thinking, “aren’t you supposed to take your mom’s religion?” Well, yes, technically, but the Woldmans like to shake things up a bit. What social standards? No conforming here! Look at us being all progressive and whatnot.

Fun fact: I was born on Easter. My 11th birthday was on Easter, and my 22nd birthday was on Easter. I’m just gonna go ahead and assume my 33rd birthday will be on Easter too. Last year, I made my friends throw me a birthday pajama party Easter brunch (see below for proof).

Yup, those are bunny slippers. Yup, that's an inflatable unicorn. Yup, that's a birthday crown. Yup, those are happy cupcakes on my pajamas. I know...I'm so extra.

We all wore adorable pajama sets and slippers. I even made my boyfriend at the time hide Easter eggs in the backyard, so we could have a full on Easter egg hunt. It was easily the best birthday/Easter I have ever had. What’s crazy about this year is that Passover fell on the night before Easter. This exact same thing happened the year I was born. Since I’m from a Catholic-Jewish family, everyone always says I passed over to Easter. Ba dum ching. They seem to think they’re pretty clever.

This year for Easter, my friend Kelsey came to visit me in the Big Apple. We spent our Passover Spring shopping (shopping haul to come), and our Easter brunching and enjoying the amazing weather (the next day it snowed…). We even saw Will Ferrell on The Highline with his family. Yes, that’s really him.

That's him in the back with the hat on.

In typically Easter fashion, I wore pastel stripes (of course), and Kelsey wore a bunny sweater. I mean, can we get anymore obnoxious than that? It is finally (sorta) Spring, and I am tired of wearing all black all the damn time, so I wanted to disrupt my usual habits and add a pop of color. If you’re not sure how to incorporate pastels into your wardrobe, check out this article I wrote for Making it in Manhattan.
